Protecting our Streams and Wetlands

The habitat assessment and monitoring team assesses the health of California’s streams and wetlands to ensure that land managers have the data they need to make informed management decisions. The team works with statewide committees to develop and implement standardized data management processes and monitoring methods, employing the WRAMP framework, the California Rapid Assessment Method (CRAM), and other monitoring methods to address the questions “Where are the streams and wetlands and how are they doing?” Work includes: helping to develop and implement regional monitoring programs; developing watershed stream and wetland condition profiles; assessing restoration project performance; and leading WRAMP, EcoAtlas and CRAM trainings to help scientists, resource managers, and the public access monitoring information at local, regional, and statewide scales.
