Background
Allie King is an Environmental Scientist at SFEI, where she works on numerical hydrodynamic models of the San Francisco Bay and Delta to support biogeochemical modeling efforts. Allie received her Ph.D. from Cornell University, where she studied environmental fluid mechanics, and she worked as a postdoc at the same university. As a graduate student and postdoc, Allie developed turbulence models for flow through aquatic vegetation and for thermal discharges, conducted field studies to measure residence time in coastal embayments, and developed and applied two- and three-dimensional hydrodynamic models to investigate physical processes driving phytoplankton growth in lakes.
