Background
Katie Harding is an Environmental Scientist in the Clean Water Program at SFEI. Katie has a MSc from the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology in Germany. She completed her PhD in Ocean Sciences at UC Santa Cruz, where she was a graduate scholar with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Her dissertation focused on nitrogen-fixing bacteria in the Arctic and Subtropical Pacific Oceans. Before joining SFEI, Katie was a postdoctoral scholar at Scripps Institute of Oceanography where she researched the cyanobacteria Synechococcus and its adaptations to the environmental stressors present in the San Diego Bay.
