Erika Mascota (She/Her) is an Environmental Analyst for the Clean Water Program and Regional Monitoring Program at SFEI. She received her B.S. in Marine Biology from California State University, Long Beach, where she studied marine ecology and the effects of warming waters on Macrocystis pyrifera. Prior to joining SFEI, Erika gained experience in marine research and monitoring, including elasmobranch monitoring in the San Francisco Bay and research on coastal benthic communities in Southern California. She also has experience in aquatic animal care and environmental education. At SFEI, she will support a range of monitoring and research activities with the RMP.

She is interested in conservation and science communication, particularly how environmental science can be made accessible and meaningful to underrepresented communities.
