Since 2015, the NMS has monitored harmful algal toxins in mussels along the Bay's periphery, unveiling recurring traces of saxitoxin, domoic acid, and microcystin. While domoic acid concentrations remain below human consumption advisory levels, microcystin and saxitoxin have intermittently breached these thresholds, signaling a growing concern.
