Since 2013, the NMS has monitored Lower South San Francisco Bay, revealing nutrient-driven phytoplankton blooms in sloughs and ponds. Modeling studies aim to quantify nutrient and biomass flows, crucial for understanding impacts on bay health, managing dissolved oxygen levels, and guiding salt pond restoration efforts.
