In 2023, San Francisco Estuary Institute (SFEI) received funding from a grant won by All Positives Possible, a nonprofit organization with 501c3 status, to provide shoreline education, fish testing, garbage abatement, and preservation process that is engaging members and train leaders of disadvantaged communities living on the shoreline of South Vallejo, the Carquinez Strait, and Napa River located in Vallejo, CA. SFEI contracted ICF to collect individuals of 7 sportfish species in 4 priority sampling locations within the area for later testing. The purpose of the testing is to better understand the quality of fish caught and eaten by subsistence fishers from the area. On 20 field days between 9/5/23 and 10/12/23, ICF collected a total of 231 fish from 4 species.
