Lori Schectel

Lori Schectel has extensive expertise in environmental regulation, planning, and resource protection.  In her current role, she directs the District’s environmental and regulatory programs. Lori currently serves on several boards including Bay Area Clean Water Agencies (Chair 2018-2020) and the Regional Nutrient Management Strategy Steering Committee (Alternate Voting Member), as well as the California Association of Sanitation Agencies Regulatory Workgroup Water Committee (Co-Chair), and was recently appointed to Central San’s inaugural DEI Task Force. Lori began her Bay Area career working on water regulatory issues for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission.  Previously, she practiced environmental law at U.S. EPA and in private practice in Washington, DC, after earning a JD with a concentration in environmental law from the University of Maryland.
