This report aims to define, map, and prioritize suitable Chinook salmon rearing habitat in the Delta. The report summarizes what is currently known or hypothesized about rearing habitat in the Delta from local research as well as from studies in other regions. Based on this understanding, we make preliminary observations regarding criteria that could be used to define suitable rearing habitat in the Delta. We also include preliminary maps based on the available data. This effort aims to identify suitable criteria for all runs of Chinook salmon migrating through the Delta, and summarize what is known or hypothesized for both smolt and fry rearing habitat.
