Erik is an Associate Environmental Scientist with the Resilient Landscapes program, where he focuses on urban ecology, historical ecology and other landscape scale conservation projects. He started his career in Rwanda where he assisted in research on payments for ecosystem services, and later worked on various aspects of conservation in the United States, including endangered species protection, urban forestry, land conservation, and community engagement. Prior to joining SFEI, he worked as a coordinator of urban wildlife programs at the National Wildlife Federation in the Washington DC area. He holds a BA in Biology from the University of Rwanda and a Masters of Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.

Delta Aquatic Resource Inventory (Project)

DARI is the Delta Aquatic Resources Inventory of surface waters, wetlands and other aquatic resources in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta (Delta). The goal of the DARI project is to develop a geospatial inventory of aquatic resources that will be used as a common base map for the Delta. A similar mapping approach used to create the California Aquatic Resource Inventory (CARI) will be applied to provide a map of the aquatic resources and their associated attributes.

City of Riverside Urban and Historical Ecology Case Study (Project)

This study focuses on a segment of the Santa Ana River Parkway in and around the City of Riverside, where multiple habitat restoration projects are underway.
