Emily Corwin (she/her) is SFEI’s Director of Strategic Initiatives, working to boost organizational impact with a mix of visionary thinking, practical execution, and dynamic fundraising efforts.
With over 20 years of experience as a water resources engineer, Emily has worked with multidisciplinary teams to secure funding, plan, design, build, and maintain a variety of projects. Her work ranges from creating green stormwater infrastructure that cleans water entering the Suisun Marsh, to developing living shorelines that protect communities from sea level rise in the Philippines and Guyana.
Emily has extensive, first-hand experience in the Bay Area's water, wastewater, and stormwater sectors, having worked with the Contra Costa Water District, the Fairfield-Suisun Sewer District, and the Solano Stormwater Alliance. She also founded the Global Green-Gray Community of Practice at Conservation International and currently leads the Nature-based Solutions Task Force at the American Society of Civil Engineers, which is working on publishing guidance for engineers to design and build with nature.
Emily studied Hydrology at the University of California, Davis and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley.
