Phil Trowbridge is the Program Manager for the Regional Monitoring Program for Water Quality in San Francisco Bay. The Bay RMP is a novel, multi-faceted regional monitoring program that uses pooled resources from dischargers and dredgers of San Francisco Bay to conduct and coordinate studies aimed at evaluating ecosystem health, characterizing sources and fate of contaminants, and informing potential management actions. Phil is responsible for managing RMP staff, budgets, and deliverables; facilitating discussion of technical issues; designing studies; and presenting results to stakeholders and technical collaborators.

Prior to coming to SFEI, Phil was the Coastal Scientist for the Piscataqua Region Estuaries Partnership and the Water Quality Standards Program Manager for the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services. He was responsible for monitoring programs and research in NH’s coastal zone, water quality standards, and environmental indicators for State of the Estuaries reports.

Phil received his Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Washington and his Masters Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a licensed Professional Engineer.
