SFEI is seeking several talented individuals to join our growing Urban Nature Lab (UNL). The UNL is a team of scientists and designers who collaborate with practitioners and researchers to guide innovative, ecologically-based urban planning and design.
We conduct original research, such as recent papers on the role of cities in regional ecosystems and the relationship between nature access and Covid rates, and synthesize urban ecology science into practical planning guidance such as the popular Making Nature’s City report. We work directly with Bay Area cities to advance local ecologically-based urban greening efforts, and internationally through collaborations with the Google Ecology Program and the IUCN Urban Nature Alliance.
We anticipate hiring an experienced and an early-career ecologist; a landscape designer; and a project manager/ecologist, although the exact mix will depend on applicants. Descriptions for each position are listed below; please use the single application form and select the position that most closely fits your background.
- Applied Ecologist (Associate Environmental Scientist/Environmental Scientist)
- Applied Ecologist (Environmental Analyst)
- Landscape Designer (Associate Environmental Scientist I or II)
