The Regional Monitoring Program for Water Quality in the San Francisco Estuary (RMP) is the primary source for long-term contaminant monitoring information for the Estuary. The RMP is an innovative and collaborative effort among the scientific community, the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board (Water Board), and the regulated discharger/dredging community.

The 2009 RMP Annual Monitoring Results (AMR) provide an accessible summary of program objectives, program changes and pilot and special studies conducted during 2009. The 2009 AMR discusses the collection effort for the Status and Trends component of the RMP. It also includes project descriptions for additional components of the RMP: contaminant loading from area tributaries to the Bay, benthic community assessments of Bay sediments, sportfish contamination, sediment dymanics and bird egg monitoring. In addition, the 2009 AMR features the supplemental chapter "Statistical Analysis of Censored Data". Changes to the program since its inception, as well as tables listing parameters collected over time and their respective matrices, can be found in the Appendix Tables. For analytical discussions of the 2009 Monitoring results see the 2009 Pulse of the Estuary. The 2009 water and sediment data are available to the public through the Web Query Tool.
