Solano Land Trust is undertaking a project in 2010 at the Calhoun Cut Ecological Reserve (CCER) to remove constructed levees. The wetland at CCER is currently open to tides, but flow is restricted to a ~3 foot diameter pipe. Removal of the levees will restore full tidal flow to Lindsey Slough within the CCER. It is unknown what effect levee removal will have on mercury and methylmercury transport in the project area, so waters and sediments from the CCER will be monitored before and after project completion to determine what if any impacts the project has had on the production and transport of methylmercury.
