The Seventh Annual RMP Mercury Meeting was held on Wednesday, January 27th, 2010, at the David Brower Center in downtown Berkeley. This meeting addressed progress in answering key questions from the RMP Mercury Strategy, such as where and when mercury is taken up into the food web, and processes and pathways contributing to food web uptake. A number of national experts presented relevant findings from their latest research. Among the topics presented were: regulatory update on mercury; the use of mercury isotopes and Diffusive Gradients in Thin-film Probes (DGTs) for monitoring methylmercury; mercury concentrations in Bay phytoplankton, fish, and birds; understanding processes that influence mercury methylation in wetlands; mercury air deposition near mines, and a methylmercury mass budget.
